About Classes:
Kids First Swim School teaches swim lessons through our own trademarked curriculum, we only use swim instructors who are certified to teach our curriculum, and we maintain small class sizes (maximum ratio of 4:1) in our small group lessons. Children are grouped together by skill level (1-5). This program is designed for swimmers who are capable of learning in a small group environment and are at least 3 years old. Swimmers will be assessed by our staff to determine the appropriate skill level. Classes meet 30 minutes weekly, and are held at the same day and time each week.
Sign-ups available on a monthly basis. For months with 4 weeks the cost is $120 for 4 lessons. For months with 5 weeks, cost is $150 for 5 lessons.

Level 1: Water Exploration
The objective of this level is to get the kids through any anxieties that exist and to create a level of comfort in the water. To pass this level, a child must be able to submerge their entire face in the water and exhale their air for 5 seconds as well as lay comfortably on their back in an assisted back float with their ears in the water. They will also learn how to enter and exit the pool independently, splash, and safety rules.
-
Level 2: Getting Horizontal & Developing the Kick
The swimmer must learn to get their feet off the bottom of the pool and through proper head positioning get into a good swimming position. To pass this level, the student must be able to get into and out of both the front and back float independently and float on the surface of the water comfortably for 10 seconds. Rhythmic breathing and proper kick technique is also introduced in this level.
-
Level 3: Perfecting the Kick
The student must perfect a six-beat kick before we can build the remainder of the stroke. We work on perfecting the 6 beat straight leg kick while in the streamline position on the tummy and arms by their side on their back. We continue to expose the student to deep water activities, new safety skills, and continuing to perfect rhythmic breathing. To advance to the next level, a swimmer must demonstrate a strong 6 beat kick at the surface of the pool while maintaining the proper body position.
-
Level 4: Introducing the Arms
Once the kick has been established as the foundation of the stroke, the arms can be built in. The stroke always starts from the top and accelerates through the bottom. To advance to the next level, the swimmer must maintain proper body posiiton (feet and arms) at the surface of the pool while still maintaining a strong 6 beat kick. Students will also work on the front and back crawls for 5 yards and the kneeling dive.
-
Level 5: Rotary Breathing
Rhythmic breathing is developed into rotary breathing allowing the swimmer to breath without breaking stroke. We also teach basic lifesaving skills in this level. To advance to the next level, swimmers must be able to swim front crawl 10 yards with touch and go arms and a strong 6 beat kick at the surface of the water. Other skills learned in this level are the standing dive and turning over while swimming.
-
Level 6: Lengthening the Stroke
The swimmer develops the ability to swim longer distances and also develop other methods of propulsion, such as Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke kick, Finning and Skulling. Treading water is also introduced. Mastery of front crawl and back crawl at this longer distance, as well as proper ability to perform the breaststroke kick is required to advance to the next level. This is also the introductory level to our Developmental Swim Team.
-
Level 7: Introducing New Skills
New methods of propelling the swimmer are the focus of this level. Teaching Breaststroke and arms and timing as well Sidestroke. The swimmer works on Front crawl and Back Crawl for 25 yards, backstroke for 15 yards, and breast stroke for 15 yards.
-
Level 8: Advanced Skills
The student continues to refine their skills at longer distances and adds additional strokes such as Butterfly and Sidestroke. Front Crawl and Back Crawl 50 yards, Backstroke 25 yards, and treading water for 3 minutes.
